Four men were arrested on Saturday after police found a bag of drugs in their car.

The search happened at about 6.20pm in the area of Astwood Park, Warwick, when police officers on patrol saw a parked car with illegible licence plates.

As they approached, one of the four occupants tried to flee but was quickly apprehended.

A check on the vehicle confirmed that its registration had been cancelled.

A subsequent search recovered a bag containing controlled drugs, a quantity of cash and a weighing scale in the glove compartment of the vehicle.

Officers also discovered a knife in the trunk.

All four men were arrested and taken to Hamilton Police Station.

They have since been bailed and are expected to appear before the courts in due course.
