Armed officers swoop on Warwick retail complex
Two people were reportedly taken away by police this morning after armed officers and a canine unit swept through the outdoor area of a Warwick shopping site.
Officers were seen on Middle Road and in the parking lot that serves Hayward Liquor Store, The Sports Source and Warwick Pharmacy at about 11am.
It is not yet clear what had happened, but firearms officers were stationed throughout the parking lot and across the street, near the PHC Zebras Field, as the incident unfolded.
Other officers later arrived at the scene.
Bystanders said that police took away two men separately and a police dog examined a vehicle before it was driven away.
It is understood that no armed officers entered any of the shops.
One store manager told The Royal Gazette that she saw armed officers arrive and she immediately locked the doors of the business as the drama unfolded.
The Bermuda Police Service has been contacted for more information.
