Police appeal for witnesses to ‘suspicious’ boat fire

Police are seeking the public’s help in providing relevant information regarding a fire which destroyed a vessel near Barr’s Bay Park in Hamilton on March 30.

A spokesman said a suspect — described as a male over six feet tall, dressed in all black with a hoodie — was seen leaving the boat via the park, heading along Pitts Bay Road, then Woodbourne Avenue, on foot, just prior.

The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service personnel extinguished the blaze and conducted initial inquiries.

The investigating police officer is appealing for any additional witnesses or people who may have relevant information or video footage, or who were in the area at the time of this incident, to come forward.

Witnesses are encouraged to contact Constable India Cheeseman by calling 211, or e-mailing icheeseman@bps.bm.
