A man was shot outside a Devonshire home in the latest firearms incident on Wednesday night.

The shooting came days after police highlighted tensions in the community potentially linked to two incidents in which multiple shots were fired without injuries.

A firearm was discharged at Berkeley Road, Pembroke on the night of May 21, while a series of shots were fired on Sunday evening at the Southampton Rangers Sports Club after two men arrived on a motorcycle during an event.

In the island’s third incident in less than a week, a police spokesman said that shortly after 10.30pm, reports were received of multiple gunshots in the Cedar Park Road area.

The spokesman said: “Upon arrival, initial investigations indicated that a firearm was discharged in this area and a male victim had been transported to hospital in a private vehicle.”

The extent of the victims injuries are not known at this time.

The spokesman said the investigation into the incident was still in its early stages, but called on area residents who may have Ring cameras or CCTV systems to check their devices for any suspicious activity that may have been captured in the lead-up to or in the aftermath of this incident.

He added: “We will be surveying the various CCTV cameras that come into and out of this area to ascertain whether anything of value was recorded.”

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Detective Inspector Nidol Barker on 717-2176 or via e-mail at nbarker@bps.bm. Witnesses may also call 211, the main police number 295-0011 or 211 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers 800-8477
