Arrested police officer suspended from duty
A police officer arrested on suspicion of dishonesty offences has been suspended from duty with pay, the Bermuda Police Service have confirmed.
Darrin Simons, the Commissioner of Police, said: “Suspension isn't a finding of guilt.
“Before making that decision, we are required to consider the nature of the allegation, whether restricted duties are appropriate, what the investigation needs and the public interest.
“In this case, suspension is the right call.”
A police spokesman added that the investigation was ongoing and, as such, further details or names would not be released at this time.
Police announced on Friday that a serving officer was arrested on allegations of dishonesty.
The BPS said they remained committed to maintaining the confidence of the public by acting with transparency, fairness, honesty, integrity and compassion.
