Mayho reigns supreme at Ferry Reach
Dominique Mayho beat off competition from veteran Neil De Ste Croix in The Latter Rain Water Service Endurance Race at Ferry Reach Park last weekend.The three hour event saw racers battle the three mile course in near perfect conditions.Forty-four riders turned up for the event in which they could choose to race individually or with a team of up to four riders.The team or individual that completed the most laps in the three hour period would win their category.Mayo took the checkered flag in the solo category followed by De Ste Croix, who has been absent from this year’s mountain bike racing series. Peter Dunne rounded out the podium with a third-place finish.In the duo category, Phil Hill and Gary Joel edged out the female team of Sarah Bonnett and Helen Trussell.In the trio category, Daelan Richardson, Marquise Vashon Cann and Nathaniel Hartwig took line honours.In the quartet category, Paulo Mederios, Duncan Simons, Mathew Oliviera and Hans Hirschi defeated five other teams for the victory.Top standout riders for the event include Karen Smith who was the only female rider to compete solo, completing 10 laps, and Alyssa Rouse, the young junior rider, who spurred her team to a second place position in the quartet category.Race 6 of The Latter Rain Water Service Racing Series will be held on Sunday at Ferry Reach Park, starting at 9am.
