Lawrence wins Bacardi time trial

Shannon Lawrence managed to shake off tiredness from the Sinclair Packwood Race last Friday to win the Bacardi 23.3 mile time trial at the weekend.The event, hosted by Team Hiscox, saw Lawrence finish the course in 53 minutes, 38 seconds, more than two minutes ahead of Darren Glasford who finished second in 56.02.The Women’s Open title went to Nicole Mitchell who posted a time 1:01.09, beating out Laurie Orchard (1:01:53) and Karen Smith (1:02:16).Top junior female was Victoria Davis in the 13 to 14 age group in 25 minutes, 37 seconds, while Matthew Olivera took the top male spot in the same age bracket in 22.38.Justin Ferreira was the leading junior male in the 15 to 16 group, completing the 23.3 miles in 1:00.46 seconds.In the 11 to 12 age division, Alex Pilgrim finished the 7.6 miles course in 24.48. Also competing were Under-10 riders Alexander Miller, Nick Pilgrim and Megan Hands.The course started from Pitts Bay Road by the Bacardi Building, continuing through Pitts Bay Road to North Shore Road and on to the St David's roundabout by Double Dip and returning via the same route.The juniors (11 to 14) completed 7.8 miles to Palmetto Road roundabout and back, while the under-tens rode 1.6 miles to Cox's Hill roundabout and back.
