Bermuda girls grab silver and bronze at CCC
Bermuda's two female riders snatched silver and bronze medals at the Caribbean Cycling Championships this morning.
Zoenique Williams and Nicole Mitchell finished second and third, securing them a place in the CAC Games next year.
The winner was Antigua's Tamika Butler . . . but not until she came out on top after a battle with the Bermudian.
Butler and Williams broke away from the peloton and from there it was a two horse race.
Eventually Butler shrugged off her rival in the last lap of the course leaving Williams to take the silver.
Mitchell then won the bronze in a sprint finish to decide third.
Later today it was revealed that Mitchell had also won the bronze medal in Saturday's time trial.
Announcement of the results had been delayed while organisers investigated a discrepancy.
Meanwhile, in the men's road race neither Dominique Mayho, Darren Glasford nor Sharron Lawrence contended for the medals.
