Kaden Hopkins wears yellow jersey at Tour of Guadeloupe
Kaden Hopkins has got a taste of life at the top after wearing the yellow jersey for the opening couple of days of the Tour of Guadeloupe.
Hopkins won the green jersey awarded to the leading points scorer at the conclusion of the Tour of Guadeloupe last year for French team Vendee U, but is now riding for Uni Sport Lamentois after moving to Guadeloupe permanently at the start of the year.
In his new home, Hopkins took the yellow jersey after winning the 3.6 kilometre prologue time-trial at the 2025 Tour in a time of 4min 7sec, five seconds clear of regular rival Kevin Le Cunff and ten seconds ahead of third-placed Philgy Palmiste.
“It was really tough with the headwind at the finish but I'm happy,” Hopkins said after the prologue. “Now we're looking forward to what comes next.“
Hopkins managed to hold on to the jersey after stage one on Saturday, finishing sixth and being given the same time as Dutch rider Delano Swenne, who prevailed in a tight sprint finish after 162km of racing between Les Abymes and Saint Francoise.
However, the 25-year-old was forced to relinquish the yellow jersey after a punishing day in the saddle on Sunday. Hopkins finished 10:05 behind stage three winner Jakub Kaczmarek, from Poland, and 57th overall after racing for 137km between Sainte Anne and Trois Riveres.
The Bermuda rider is now 52nd in the general classification, 9:05 behind new race leader Kaczmarek.
The ten-day tour of Guadeloupe continues on Monday with stage four consisting of 146km between Baie and Deshaies.
