Bermudian riders will be hoping for a repeat of last year’s performances when they compete at the Caribbean Elite Road Cycling Championships in Belize this weekend.

A year ago in Guyana, Bermuda produced one of its strongest regional displays in recent history to win five medals.

Leading the challenge this time around is Conor White, the reigning Caribbean time-trial champion, who is joined by Kaden Hopkins, Bermuda time-trial title holder Nic Narraway and Gabriella Arnold, the only female in the squad.

White captured the time-trial in Guyana, with Hopkins settling for second. Narraway earned silver in the under-23 time trial while Arnold had two silver medals, one in the women’s time-trial and another in the road race, results which confirmed Bermuda’s place among the region’s elite.

There is added pressure this time around as the Caribbean Championships is serving as a key qualifier for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.

Racecourses around Belize City and Burrell Boom are expected to challenge even the most seasoned riders with rolling terrain and tropical heat.

Peter Dunne, the Bermuda Bicycle Association president who travelled to Belize as the team manager, supported by Dominique Mayho as mechanic and race-day support, backed the island’s riders to distinguish themselves over the two days.

“Cycling across the Caribbean is developing rapidly, every year the fields get deeper and faster,” Dunne said.

“Our riders have proven they can deliver when it counts. We’re proud of their preparation and confident they’ll once again represent Bermuda with strength and class.”
