Nicholas Narraway and Gabriella Arnold win cycling awards
Nicholas Narraway and Gabriella Arnold picked up top accolades at the Bermuda Bicycle Association awards ceremony held at Robin Hood on Sunday.
Narraway won the male rider of the year in recognition of what the BBA described as an outstanding year defined by notable achievements, continued progression and exemplary sportsmanship.
Competing in his first year in the elite category, the 23-year-old delivered standout performances at both national and regional levels, capturing the National Time-Trial Championship and the Caribbean Time-Trial Championship.
“Importantly, his Caribbean Championship victory secured a qualification place for Bermuda cycling at the Central American and Caribbean Games, delivering a direct and measurable benefit to the national programme,” the BBA said.
“Throughout the season, Nic also recorded multiple victories in time-trial and gravel events, along with numerous top-10 finishes while racing in Spain with Tenerife — Bike Point—La Sede, contributing both individual results and key support to his team-mates.”
Arnold retained the female rider of the year in honour of her exploits across road, mountain bike, time-trial and gravel disciplines.
Her standout international performances came at the Caribbean Cycling Championships in Belize, where she earned silver in the road race and bronze in the time-trial.
“Notably, her aggressive racing helped shape the final selection in the road race, with both medal performances securing qualification places for Bermuda at the 2026 CAC Games,” the BBA said.
“Throughout the season, Gabby also demonstrated her versatility by earning podium results in highly competitive gravel races in the United States.”
Charlotte Millington secured the junior rider of the year. In her final year competing as a junior, the 18-year-old delivered strong results locally and internationally while also acting as a leader within the junior ranks.
At the Junior Caribbean Cycling Championships, Millington captured gold in the time-trial and silver in the road race, bringing her career medal count at the Championships to six.
Her exploits saw her being chosen by the BBA and the Bermuda Olympic Association to compete at the Junior Pan American Games in Paraguay, following strong performances at the Pan American Road Championships in Uruguay.
Locally, Millington secured three national titles in mountain bike, road race and time-trial.
It was a double celebration for the MacGuinness family, as father Neil was voted the most improved adult rider, while son Jonah bagged the most improved junior.
Nyon Steede took the adult spirit award, with the junior recognition going to Keon Stevens.
Adam Hopkins, the BBA treasurer, was awarded the club person, Charles Thresh race official, Chequan Richardson got the best volunteer, while Bermuda Rouleurs Cycling Club received the race organiser prize.
BBA president Peter Dunne noted that recognition is not only for those who excelled in competitions.
“These awards recognise far more than podium finishes,” Dunne said.
“They celebrate the people who give their time, show up consistently and represent Bermuda cycling with integrity, whether that’s racing internationally, organising events, officiating safely, or supporting others on the road.
“The BBA is proud of the standard set by our 2025 award recipients.”
