Motorcyclist remains in hospital after hitting parked car

A 60-year-old man was today still in hospital with head and facial injuries after crashing into a parked car over the weekend.

A police spokesman said that at about 5.20pm on Saturday, first responders attended East Shore Road in Sandys where it was believed a motorcycle rider hit a parked car.

“Apparently the rider sustained head as well as facial injuries and was transported by ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment,” he said.

“At last check, he remained in hospital.

“Traffic in the area was diverted along Somerset Road and Scott’s Hill Road for approximately 2½ hours while the scene was processed.”

Meanwhile, an American visitor was treated and released for injuries suffered in a single vehicle crash on the Causeway at about 10.10am on Saturday.

“It now appears that the female rental scooter rider, understood to be a 41-year-old American visitor, was travelling in the westbound lane of the Causeway out of St George’s, but ended up colliding with the eastbound side of the Causeway wall,” the BPS spokesman said.

“Police officers and emergency medical personnel responded.

“The injured rider was treated at the scene, before being transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for further medical care of non-life threatening injuries.

“While inquiries were conducted at the scene, traffic was temporarily reduced to one lane along the Causeway, managed by police officers, causing some delays for motorists in the area.”

Witnesses to either crash who have not already come forward can provide information by calling 211.
