Police report three road crashes in under 24 hours
Two collisions between motorcycles and cars have been reported by police, while a third crash involved a car alone.
Shortly after 9am yesterday, officers attended a collision on South Road in Paget near the junction with White Sands Road.
A Bermuda Police Service spokesman said that a car being driven east on the main road was making a right turn onto White Sands Road when a 25-year-old man attempted to overtake and struck the vehicle.
The rider suffered facial injuries and was taken to hospital in a private vehicle.
His injuries were not considered serious and the driver of the car did not appear to be injured.
The motorcycle was found to be uninsured and unlicensed, while the rider was disqualified from driving all vehicles.
Shortly after 5pm the same day, police arrived at the scene of a collision between a car and motorcycle near the junction of Trimingham Hill and The Lane in Paget.
The male rider was said to be driving south on Trimingham Hill when he attempted to overtake a line of traffic, lost control of the bike and struck a car travelling in the opposite direction.
He was taken to hospital with a non life-threatening leg injury, while the driver of the car was unhurt.
Police seized the motorcycle after finding that the vehicle’s registration had expired.
The BPS spokesman said that the vehicle was suspected as stolen, while the rider was disqualified from riding by reason of age.
He added that both riders were expected to appear in court.
Just before 2am today, officers attended a single-vehicle crash near the junction of East Point Lane and North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish and found a car blocking both lanes just east of the aquarium.
The driver was said to be travelling west when he lost control and struck a wall.
The police spokesman said that no signs of impairment were detected.
The driver suffered a minor hand injury while the vehicle was “extensively damaged”.
All three incidents are under investigation.
