Rider hurt after serious crash in Paget
A motorcycle rider was taken to hospital with serious injuries this evening after a crash on South Road, police said.
It is believed that the collision happened as several other riders attempted to overtake vehicles.
The Bermuda Police Service said that officers and other emergency crews were called to a location near the junction with Harvey Road, in Paget, at about 6.40pm.
“Preliminary information indicates a motorcycle travelling west, on South Road, was involved in a collision with another motorcycle travelling in the opposite direction,” the BPS added.
“It appears that several eastbound motorcyclists were attempting to overtake other vehicles, when one of the motorcycles collided with the westbound rider before striking a private car.
“The eastbound motorcyclists involved left the scene prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.
“The injured motorcycle rider was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.”
Traffic diversions were set up at Harvey Road and Southcote Road.
Motorists were advised to use alternative routes where possible.
Anyone with information about the crash was urged to call the BPS on 211 as soon as possible.
