The Bermuda Police Service said that officers and other first responders were sent to the incident on South Road, Southampton, near the entrance to the Fairmont Southampton, shortly before 6am.

“Details remain limited at this time,” the BPS added.

“However, it is believed that a female passenger travelling in the car was transported to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries that are considered potentially serious.

“Preliminary information suggests that both vehicles were travelling in a westerly direction when the car slowed to navigate road construction.

“The minibus reportedly struck the rear of the car.

“The minibus driver has been arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.”

Motorists were advised to expect delays on South Road and diversions were put in place at Horseshoe Road and Harbour View Drive.

Anyone witnesses to the collision were urged to call police on 211 as soon as possible.
