The motorcyclist killed in a two-vehicle collision on Monday has been named as Jahzavier Wilson.

Mr Wilson, 19, became the second road fatality of the year after his bike collided with a water truck in Smith’s.

The Bermuda Police Service said that officers received a report of the crash on Verdmont Road, near the junction with St Mark’s Road, shortly before 12.40pm on Monday.

A spokesman said: “It was reported that the motorcycle rider, a 19-year-old male, was travelling east when he appeared to have lost control of the bike and went into the path of the water truck, which was travelling in the opposite direction.”

The rider sustained life-threatening injuries and was unresponsive after the collision.

Life-saving efforts began at the scene and en route to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, but the rider was later pronounced dead.

He is the second person to die on Bermuda’s roads this year. The truck driver did not appear to be injured in the crash.

A BPS family liaison officer is assisting his loved ones, while inquiries continue.
