American tourist is island’s 13th road fatality of 2026
An American visitor involved in a two-vehicle crash in Southampton on Tuesday has died, making her the island’s thirteenth road fatality this year, police said on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bermuda Police Service said that the 63-year-old woman was riding a rental scooter west along Middle Road in Southampton near the junction with Industrial Park Road when she collided with a car travelling in the opposite direction.
She was taken in an ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead by an on-call doctor.
A BPS family liaison officer is assisting her next of kin, while an investigation into the incident continues.
Witnesses to the collision were urged to call Pc Jason Ming, of the roads policing unit, on 717-0862 or e-mail jming@bps.bm as soon as possible.

Leroy Smith, 43, was involved in a crash on April 30
An unnamed motorcyclist, 73, collided with a bus on Palmetto Road on May 18
Laquan Thomas, 30, died after a collision between a livery cycle and motorcycle along Malabar Road, on May 19
Dylan Taylor, 23, died after colliding with a rental car along South Road, Smith’s, on June 1
Michael DeSilva, 45, died after colliding with a private car on Middle Road, Sandys, on July 26
An unnamed motorcyclist was involved in a crash near the junction of Church Road and South Road in Southampton on July 25. He succumbed to his injuries a week later on August 1
An unnamed motorcyclist was involved in a crash with a flatbed truck at junction of Chapel Road and Harbour Road in Paget on August 8
