Truck driver arrested after three-way collision
A 64-year-old man was arrested for drink-driving after being involved in a three-way collision involving heavy trucks on Monday.
Police confirmed the truck driver, a Sandys resident, sustained injuries during the incident that were not life-threatening
The collision took place at about 9.40am in Southampton, near the intersection of South Road and Harbour View Drive, which leads to the Fairmont Southampton.
One truck attempted to overtake another when they collided, which led to the overtaking vehicle getting involved in a collision with another oncoming truck. It then overturned and blocked the main road.
No other injuries were reported, but traffic was diverted for about 2½ hours while the scene was processed.
Joe Vieira Trucking, which is understood to be the owner of the overturned vehicle, has been contacted for comment.
