A 68-year-old US visitor admitted careless driving after injuring a rider in a crash on Monday, and was fined $800 for the offence the following day in Magistrates’ Court, police said.

He was driving a minicar along Blue Hole Hill, Hamilton Parish at about 5.15pm when a 61-year-old local male on a motorcycle sustained non-life threatening injuries in a collision with his rental vehicle.

Also on Monday, at about 5.40pm, a separate collision between a taxi and a motorcycle left the rider, an 18-year-old Hamilton Parish man, with an arm injury and other wounds that were treated in hospital.

The taxi driver, said to be a 43-year-old Pembroke man, was not hurt.

A police spokesman said information indicated that the motorcyclist and taxi driver had been travelling in opposite directions.
