School principals to be moved are named

Four school Principals who will be moved to different schools were today named.

* Judith Alexander will move from Purvis Primary School to Victor Scott Primary School;

* Francine McMahon will move from TN Tatem Middle School to Purvis Primary School;

* Idonia Beckles will move from East End Primary School to TN Tatem Middle School; and

* Valerie Williams will move from the Victor Scott Primary School to East End Primary School.

In a press release this afternoon the Education Ministry said the transfers are designed to meet system needs and to address:

1. Student Achievement ensuring that we focus on improving outcomes and addressing student needs;

2. Resource Distribution ensuring equity across schools sharing the talent to raise standards in all schools;

3. Professional Growth re-energising our leaders and teachers and ensuring that development opportunities are created to strengthen our staff and improve performance.

Education Minister Dame Jennifer Smith said: “Each of these Principals has provided a solid foundation at their particular school and they bring specific experience and expertise which will augment the school to which they are being transferred for the 2012/2013 year.”

She thanked the four Principals for their “commitment to doing what is best for the students of Bermuda”, and repeating the fact that the moves are in line with the focus on supporting schools and building capacity to maximise the performance of all those who interact with our students.
