Parents offered chance to meet Education Commissioner
The first of four meetings for parents to meet with the new Commissioner of Education, Dr Edmond Heatley, will be held tonight at West Pembroke Primary School at 7pm.
Dr Heatley explained: “Since arriving in Bermuda, I've had opportunities to meet with teachers and students.
“I had promised to meet with parents to provide a forum for them to openly share and provide feedback on the Bermuda Public School system.”
The next meeting is planned for Thursday, October 24 at TN Tatem Middle School. The last two meetings will be held at Sandys Middle School on Monday, November 4 and at East End Primary School on Thursday, November 7.
All meetings will begin at 7pm.
Dr Heatley will make a presentation outlining plans to improve public schools, followed by a question and answer period.
“We need parents to be actively involved in our school system and at the same time the Ministry will continue to engage and provide support for our parents,” Dr Heatley said. “Parents are an integral part of making an education system successful.”
