Acting education commissioner Freddie Evans has confirmed that he will not be getting the post on a permanent basis.

Dr Evans told The Royal Gazette, “I just know it’s not me” in response to a ZBM report claiming the job had gone to a Briton based in Dubai.

When asked for comment, Curtis Dickinson, the chairman of the Board of Education, stated it would be inappropriate to discuss any details until the recruitment process had been completed.

“The Board of Education is currently in the recruitment process for a new Commissioner of Education with the objective of identifying the most highly qualified available candidate.

“The selection process is confidential and the public will be notified after the Public Service Commission and the Governor have approved the recommendation and a contract has been signed.

“It would be inappropriate to discuss the recruitment details until the process has been completed.”
