The headmaster of an English boarding school for boys is to host a drinks reception at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club for the parents of prospective pupils next month.

Families are also invited to meet Sherborne School’s director of admissions to learn more about the school, which takes boys aged from 13 to 18.

A spokeswoman for the school said: “Due to their close proximity and unique relationship with Sherborne Girls, Sherborne is able to provide boys with a unique single-sex education.

“Several Bermudians have chosen Sherborne for their sons and been thrilled with their decision.

“Parents often say that if they had set out to design the perfect model of a school for their son, or daughter, Sherborne would be it.”

A Bermudian parent added: “To me, Sherborne has the best of both worlds in sense of a boy’s environment for education and activities but social contact at events and outside school with the girls’ school.

“For my son, this and the phenomenal football programme was the tipping point.”

The seven-day-a-week boarding school is in the market town of Sherborne, Dorset — a two-hour train journey from London.

The spokeswoman said: “The academic focus achieved through single-sex learning, combined with a collaborative co-curricular programme offers a remarkable opportunity and benefit to the students.”

Headmaster Dominic Luckett will host the drinks reception on June 6 and families will be able to meet with Vanessa Hicks, the admissions director, on June 6 or June 7.
