The Bermuda Centre for Creative Learning has held an event to celebrate the community members who helped bring their new school premises to life.

The BCCL converted an office into a learning environment for pupils with language-based learning difficulties at Cedar House on Hamilton’s Cedar Avenue. The group held a donor appreciation day to recognise people who contributed time and resources to make the project happen.

Cindy Corday, BCCL’s cofounder, said: “We appreciate the support of all of the community members who helped make this happen.

“We invited those who contributed in some way to come and watch and interact with the students during scenarios of a typical day at school.”

Pupils helped create a wall of thanks and attendees were given a tour of the new school and got the chance to take part in lessons.

Lindsey Sirju, the BCCL’s cofounder, said: “It’s great for people to be able to experience parts of the responsive classroom model that we practise at school.

“The students acted as guides and were able to share their journey with the donors, which adds to that human experience.”

The Bermuda Centre for Creative Learning Foundation is raising money to improve the school, pay for teachers and provide bursaries for pupils.
