Tech experts to speak at Generation Zapped

Experts on wireless technology will share information at a free event in November.Bermuda Advocates for Safe Technology and the Bermuda College Eco Club will present Generation Zapped at Bermuda College Auditorium on November 13, from 7pm.Experts include David Carpenter, Paul Heroux and Ayesha Peets-Talbot.The information below was provided about the speakers:Dr. Carpenter has a special place in his heart for Bermuda, having spent some time in his youth at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences. He obtained his medical doctorate from Harvard and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi.He is currently the Director of the Institute for Health and The Environment, a collaborating centre of the World Health Organization.He is also the Professor of Environmental Health Sciences, School of Public Health, University of Albany.Dr. Carpenter has been recognized for his outstanding contributions to Public health and the Prevention of disease, through his lifelong research of environmental health hazards, and his limitless devotion to medical education. His research interests include:Ionizing and non-ionizing radiation biologyEffects of air pollution on respiratory functionExposure to organic pollutants and risks of diabetes and cardiovascular diseaseCognitive and behavioral effects of environmental contaminants on children He has written 6 books and has 100’s of major peer reviewed publications including:Public Health Implication of Wireless TechnologyGovernment and Health in the 21st Century, Challenges and SolutionsSetting Prudent Health Policy for Electromagnetic Field ExposureHuman Health effects of EMFs: The Cost of Doing NothingHe has also published research on respiratory disease and power plants, PCBS, water, fish and seafood contamination to name a few, and is co-editor-in-chief of the journal Environmental Pollution.Dr Paul Heroux helps bridge the gap between Telecom and Health, as he not only has 15 years experience in engineering, but 30 years in health sciences.He is the Associate Professor at McGill University Faculty of Medicine’s Occupational Health Program where he teaches in the Health Effects of Electromagnetic Radiation. He has served as a consultant to the Telecom Industry on microwave electromagnetic fields and he recently met with the US Senate and House of Representatives in Washington DC on the deployment of Cellular Telecom Systems.He has presented for the International Agency for Research on Cancer, which is an interagency group of the World Health Organization.And since the beginning of his science career in 1976, he has followed the debate surrounding the biological effects of EMFS, comfortable sitting on both sides of the fence from engineering to health. Dr. Peets Talbot is the Medical Director and Co-Founder of Ocean Rock Wellness and is board certified in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.She is the Co Author of Healing Bermuda, the Ultimate Guide to Restoring your Health and Energy Without Toxic Medications. She completed medical school at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, where she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha and completed her post-graduate training at Virginia Commonwealth University.Dr. Peets Talbot went on to a fellowship in Bariatric Medicine and became board certified in Obesity Medicine. She is passionate about helping people to achieve and maintain their optimal health, from baby to adulthood, believing in a healthcare approach that recognizes that healthy living is a balance between wellness of the mind, body and spirit.She is currently continuing her education in Functional Medicine Practices.
