Hundreds of children enjoy virtual voyage
Easter camps were grounded this month due to Covid-19 – but youngsters got a virtual voyage at sea.
The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute presented the free presentations from April 5 to April 9 which took on children, some as far away as South Africa, who were eager to join in.
Nearly 200 children tuned in each day, according to Karla Lacey, the BUEI chief executive.
Lessons ranged from boat building to navigation and migration.
Every episode included hands-on craft sessions, using materials easily found around the house.
More than 60 uploaded projects were eligible for a series of random prize draws.
The BUEI congratulated Talaya and Tatiana Sousa, who won the episode on boats and shipping.
Julia and Leonardo Stoppa won for “navigation, and Aidan and Lexie Taylor won ”Migration“.
Each episode with its craft activity and instructions can be found on the BUEI’s website and YouTube channel.
