School Covid testing programme drawn up

A testing schedule for Covid-19 has been drawn up for the return to public schools next month, the Department of Education advised.

Staff and pupils must get a clear PCR test dated within three days of going back to the classroom.

Schools starts on January 4 for staff, and January 5 for students.

The Molecular Diagnostic Lab’s schedule for the nearly 5,400 staff and students was sent out this week.

On January 1, tests will be offered for teachers and staff only at the Bermuda College Cafeteria from 10am to 3pm, and the Bull’s Head Car Park from 2pm to 4pm.

Student testing is available on January 2 at the Bermuda College Cafeteria from 10am to 4pm, and the Bull’s Head Car Park from noon to 3pm.

That same day, CedarBridge Academy staff and students can self-test from 1pm to 3pm.

Student testing is offered again on January 3 at the Bermuda College Cafeteria from 10am to 4pm and Bull’s Head Car Park from 2pm to 4pm – and on January 4 at the Bermuda College Cafeteria from 10am to noon.

Testing for Dame Marjorie Bean Hope Academy pupils will be offered at the school on January 4 from 1pm to 2pm.

Booking forms launch on Monday online here.

A ministry spokeswoman said there was potential room for staff testing to be arranged before noon on January 3, if needed.

Private tests within three days of the return to school can also be presented ahead of the return to class.
