Registration open for virtual school open houses

Schools will hold virtual open houses for potential students and parents this year

Parents and guardians can now register to attend virtual open houses for preschools, primary schools and middle schools, the Department of Education has announced.

The events will take place via Zoom and attendees must sign up by midnight before the scheduled open house. Those who sign up will receive a link to the meeting and other details from the school.

The events will be recorded and uploaded to the Bermuda Public School System YouTube channel which can be subscribed to for notifications.

Meeting hosts will check registrations before admitting people into the Open House events and for security purposes, participants are required to have cameras showing their faces and displaying their full names.

Participants are asked to arrive in the online waiting rooms at least 15 minutes early to implement administrative and security protocols.

Issues with the open house sign-up process can be addressed by e-mailing: enrolment@moed.bm

A spokeswoman for the department said: “Open House events are an opportunity for parents, guardians and students to get to know the staff and facilities of the schools they might be attending, informing their enrolment registration decisions.”

Registration is from January 14 to February 4 for the Preschool (inclusive of the Bright Start Programme) and Primary levels and January 17 to January 19 for the Middle Schools.

The Bright Start programme will be held at the following preschools only: St David’s Preschool; Victor Scott Preschool; Southampton Preschool; Lagoon Park Preschool.

An update on registration for signature senior schools will be provided this month.
