Awards of up to $5,000 will be available to students joining Mount St Agnes elementary school in September.

Anna Faria Machado, the school principal, said: “This is a very proud moment for MSA.

“We are blessed to be in a position to offer Elementary Entrance Awards this year. We are grateful to our donors and volunteers, whose generosity and fundraising efforts have enabled us to offer these awards in addition to our existing bursaries.”

The merit-based awards will be given to students who are “exceptionally well rounded”.

Ms Machado added: “Our highly qualified teachers bring the curriculum to life and we see the results through our students’ academic success.

“Academic achievement, however, is only one aspect of an MSA education. Our students benefit from our faith-based values, develop social and emotional skills, explore extracurricular interests, become critical thinkers and give back to their community.

“We are actively seeking candidates who will further enrich our vibrant school family.”

The new Elementary Entrance Awards are applicable only to new elementary school students, but MSA bursaries are available to existing students at all grade levels.
