A local school with British ties is introducing a Canadian curriculum as part of its online academic offerings.

Chatmore British International School in Smith’s has begun a strategic partnership with Holy Trinity School in Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Britanni Butterworth, the director of Chatmore, said the collaboration would introduce the “prestigious” Ontario curriculum to the school’s online academic programme, meaning the school now offers British and Canadian curriculums through digital platforms.

Ms Butterworth said the school was future-focused and, recognising that education is evolving, expanded to offer “high-quality online programmes”.

The British online curriculum is delivered in partnership with King’s InterHigh, a leading virtual school. With the addition of the Ontario curriculum through Holy Trinity School, students can also access a Canadian academic pathway from Bermuda.

“At Chatmore, we are guided by our belief that every student learns differently and deserves access to an education that reflects their goals, strengths and context,“ Ms Butterworth said.

“While our foundation remains in strong, in-person learning and community engagement, these online partnerships enable us to extend our mission and respond to the changing landscape of education with intention and care.”

Ms Butterworth said Chatmore had supported numerous learners through its online programmes.

She added: “These learners may have families that travel often or who may be in specialised sports or extracurricular programmes. Some families have also chosen the online pathway as an option for home schooling while still being part of a larger school community.”

She said that since 2021, Chatmore has integrated online learning into its broader academic framework, not as a replacement for in-person schooling, but as an extension of its “personalised” approach.

She added that online learners benefit from the same “ethos of support, connection and academic integrity that defines the Chatmore experience”.
