Somersfield Academy offers tickets for annual fun run
A private school will use its annual racing fundraiser to further boost its athletics programme, its spokeswoman said today.
Somersfield Academy has called for sponsors for its Fun Run and Walk, set to take place in September.
It comes after the school set a new record last year after winning four interschool championship titles in netball, badminton and basketball.
Kristen Scott Ndiaye, the school’s development and marketing manager, said Somersfield was “incredibly proud” of what the pupils achieved last year.
She added: “As a team, we decided that the Fun Run would be a great celebration of that success and a stepping stone towards even greater athletic achievement.”
The event will feature a 400-metre children’s race, a one-mile youth race and a five-kilometre family running and walking race.
Each activity will start and end at Somersfield Academy’s Devonshire campus.
Funds will benefit the school’s physical education and athletics programmes.
Somersfield Academy has called for sponsors, with opportunities including a $3,000 title sponsor, a $2,500 sponsor for post-race refreshments, a $2,000 medal sponsor and a $1,000 water station sponsor.
A sponsor for in-kind prizes, particularly gift cards and items for top-race finishers, has also been requested.
Sponsorship packages will offer placement of logos on event signs and race materials, as well as social media promotion.
The early-bird discount, which ends on August 31, sets children’s tickets at $15 and adults’ tickets at $30.
Children’s tickets will go to $20 in September while adults’ tickets sell for $35.
The event will start on September 28 at 8am.
Those interested in sponsoring can call the Somersfield advancement office at 535-8700.
