The SkillCraft Youth Internship celebrated the launch of its fourth summer programme, with 16 teenagers placed at companies across the island.

Margot Shane, a SkillCraft programme director, said: “Our interns have already learnt so much in their first week, both from our marketing workshops and from being on-site with their host organisations.

“We are so pleased to be working with another engaged, bright group of young people, and I am excited to see what they produce during their six weeks with us.”

The SkillCraft Youth Internship programme offers young Bermudians experiential training and work experience by pairing them with island businesses and charities needing assistance with social-media marketing.

Aziza Furbert, a marketing expert, helps the interns to gain fundamental marketing and social-media knowledge, with the young people then practising their skills by working with their host organisation.

The interns also receive one-on-one coaching to help them achieve their goals.

While SkillCraft usually accepts 15 students into the programme, a spokeswoman said that because of high demand there was an additional student-host pairing.

Ms Shane thanked the Centennial Bermuda Foundation’s economic participation committee for its support, along with Digicel Bermuda, Suite Solutions, CedarBridge Academy, Mount Saint Agnes Academy and Somersfield Academy.
