BCCL prepares for launch of secondary programme
A school for students with learning differences will launch a new secondary programme next month.
The Bermuda Centre for Creative Learning said that the programme, designed in partnership with the Christa McAuliffe Academy School of Arts and Sciences online private school, allows students in years 10 to 13 to earn an accredited US high school diploma.
A spokeswoman explained: “Ideal for students who thrive in personalised learning settings, have other commitments or passions such as sport, music or drama, or are looking for an alternative pathway to academic success, the BCCL Secondary School Programme blends academic rigour with real-world relevance.”
Pupils in the programme can choose from more than 200 courses, including Advanced Placement and dual-enrolment, and more than 30 online clubs.
Pupils receive personalised lessons from in-person and online instructors in the mornings and participate in work placements, community service, life skills development and hands-on projects in the afternoons.
Cindy Corday, the head of school, said: “At BCCL, we believe that education should adapt to the student, not the other way around.
“This programme gives young people the structure they need and the freedom they deserve to succeed on their own terms.”
She added: “It’s a unique opportunity for students to be part of something fresh, future-facing and designed around their potential.”
