Somersfield’s largest cohort earns top marks
Somersfield Academy has celebrated the success of its students over the 2024-25 school year across its Montessori and International Baccalaureate programmes.
A spokeswoman for the school said that students in P4 to M2 scored an average of two years above their grade equivalencies in their Canadian Achievement Tests, with M3 and M4 students scoring 1.5 years over their grade level.
Janice Outerbridge, the head of primary, said the school was thrilled by the results, stating it that reflected the student’s curiosity and hard work.
“It’s wonderful to see our students grow in confidence and readiness as independent learners,” she added.
The spokeswoman said the school also recorded its largest cohort sitting the Middle Years Programme E-Assessments.
Cathy Schlei, the IB co-ordinator, said: “This year’s MYP cohort demonstrated remarkable perseverance and growth.
“Their achievements, including Somersfield’s first-ever bilingual certificate and successful completion of 16 assessments across ten subjects, reflects what can be accomplished when compassion meets high expectations.”
The spokeswoman added that 94 per cent of the school’s diploma programme graduating class received offers from their first-choice universities.
Charlie Judd, the head of secondary, said: “The IB diploma is a demanding programme, and this year tested our students in new ways.
“With an inclusive admissions approach that welcomes a broad range of learners, these accomplishments are a powerful reminder of what young people can achieve when they are supported and challenged.”
