BHS faculty raise nearly $50,000 for scholarships

The Bermuda High School Teachers’ Association is beginning its 2025-26 year of fundraising this month, with the group’s popular quiz night coming up on November 21.

The group, established to serve as a medium between faculty and leadership, celebrated raising $46,000 towards scholarships and bursaries in 2024-25.

Catering to attendees aged 18 and above, the quiz is to take place in the school’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, and comes with a raffle, a dinner option and a bar.

Teams of up to six can register via e-mail at pharrison@bhs.bm.

Carol A. Swainson, the head of school, said the group’s fundraising for bursaries showed the faculty’s “extraordinary commitment to educating young people”.

She added: “In all my years as a school leader, I have never seen a faculty this dedicated.”

Other fundraising events include Friday teacher grub days — and an annual golf tournament, with the next scheduled for June 5, 2026.
