The Office of the Privacy Commissioner has donated a children’s book about privacy to the Florenz Webbe Maxwell Youth Library to help young people protect their personal information.

The book, Warro Goes on an Adventure, was created by the Office of the Data Protection Authority in Guernsey to help children learn what personal information is, why it matters and how to share it safely.

Angie Farquharson, the acting privacy commissioner, said: “Privacy is a fundamental right. If children can learn this right from an early age, they will have better ownership over their data.

“Warro is written in a fun and easy manner for children to understand. The office is pleased to make this donation to the library. This will allow greater access for the community.”

Kieron Hall, the youth collection librarian, thanked the Privacy Commissioner for the donation, adding: “It is important for children to learn about data privacy at a young age, and the addition of this book to our collection is just one of the ways the library hopes to connect with the Privacy Commissioner to protect the youth of Bermuda.”
