Webinar series to offer guidance on paying for college
A new webinar series will next week offer guidance for college-bound students and their families to help them tackle the financial challenges of higher education.
The “Finding Funds for College” sessions, organised by the Mirrors Programme, will provide advice from financial institutions, scholarship bodies and government departments.
The series will be held weekly throughout February, with each event focused on different financial topics.
The first session, to be held on February 3, will cover lending institutions, with insights from Clarien Bank, the Bermuda Credit Union, Freisenbruch and others.
The second, on February 10, will focus on college, vocational and technical scholarships, highlighting opportunities from Bermudascholarships.com, Bermuda College and Belco.
The series continues on February 13 with a session focused on scholarship opportunities offered by the Centennial Bermuda Foundation.
The final instalment will be on February 24 featuring guidance from the Department of Workforce Development and the Ministry of Education.
Each of the four sessions will take place between 6pm and 7.15pm on Zoom, with those interested in taking part urged to register online.
A government spokeswoman said: “The initiative is designed to answer critical questions that often cause stress during the college application process, such as what scholarship committees are looking for and how parents can best support the journey.
“Furthermore, the series will highlight specific funds available for trades and vocational education, ensuring that all career paths are supported.
“To further encourage student participation, co-curricular hours are available for student attendees. Additionally, participants will be eligible to win a surprise gift at every session.”
