Ministry of Education celebrates the work of school counsellors
The Ministry of Education has honoured the work of school counsellors and their contributions to students’ lives.
Bermuda’s public schools joined the American School Counsellor Association and more than 100,000 schools in recognising National School Counselling Week.
The theme for the annual event this year is “School counsellors amplify student success”.
Roshanda Caines, an education officer for counselling, said: “Our school counsellors are integral to student success.
“That is why we take a few days every year to recognise these hardworking professionals.
“Please take a moment to reach out to the counsellors at your child’s school and thank them for helping our students grow.”
School counsellors hold a master’s degree in school counselling or any other related field and must complete a practicum and a supervised internship.
They are designed to help students succeed academically and prepare for their future.
A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Education said their training and experience made them “an integral part of the overall educational programme”.
A gallery of photographs of all Bermuda public school counsellors can be found on the Department of Education website at www.moed.bm.
Families or community members with specific questions or concerns about school counselling programmes should contact their school counsellor.
