Applications are being accepted by the Ministry of Education for its 2026 scholarships and awards programme.

The scheme will offer 12 scholarships to allow people from all backgrounds to pursue higher education on the island or overseas.

Crystal Caesar, the education minister, said: “The 2026 scholarships and awards programme reflects our unwavering belief that education transforms lives.

“These awards are an investment in our people and in Bermuda’s future.

“We encourage all eligible students to take advantage of these opportunities and pursue their academic and professional goals with confidence.”

Scholarship and award opportunities

• Minister’s Achievement Scholarship: helps high-achieving graduating pupils from public senior schools to attend overseas postsecondary education

• Minister’s Exceptional Student Award: for people with disabilities who are graduating or leaving school to help them pursue postsecondary studies. Those with disabilities who are aged 25 or younger and may be working, volunteering or already attending college or university are also eligible

• Minister’s Technical Vocational Award: for public school graduates pursuing local or overseas postsecondary study in technical or vocational fields

• Minister’s Applied Science Scholarship: for graduating public senior school students who attended the applied technology dual enrolment diploma programme with Bermuda College and plan to continue the programme for an associate’s degree or certificate

• Further Education Award: for students who have completed at least one year at an accredited college or university and are continuing postsecondary studies. Awards will also be granted to students pursuing or attending postgraduate study

• Non-traditional Student Award: for people aged 25 and older who are pursuing postsecondary education

• Teacher Education Scholarship: for college or university students studying select subjects or teaching areas needed in the public school system. Applicants must graduate from a recognised college or university, complete their teaching practicum and obtain a Bermuda Educators Council licence within three years of receiving the award

• Teacher Sabbatical Award: for experienced teachers within the public school system looking to get approved study to gain new skills or qualifications

• Bermuda Government Scholarship: for graduating senior school, college or university students no older than 25 who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement

• Caribbean Schools Award: provides funding for three years of undergraduate or postgraduate students attending schools in the Caribbean region

• College Promise Programme: offers public high school pupils with a GPA of 2.5 or higher the chance to attend Bermuda College tuition free

• Bermuda College Book Award: offers funding for books for Bermuda College students in financial need

The deadline for the scholarships and awards is April 15.

People who are interested in applying were encouraged to review eligibility criteria and begin the application process as soon as possible.
