A former primary school will serve as a temporary venue for a facility that supports Bermudians with disabilities.

A government spokeswoman confirmed that the K Margaret Carter Centre will operate out of a section of Prospect Primary School in Devonshire by the start of next month.

She added: “Work is under way, including repairs, IT infrastructure, and electrical and plumbing requirements, with an estimated completion date of April 6.”

The centre’s primary location, also in Devonshire, closed down last week owing to mould and air-quality concerns.

A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors said that crews were addressing the mould problem as well as any repairs that may be necessary.

She added that students would return to the facility as soon as it was safe to do so.

The Prospect Primary School site ceased to function as an elementary school last June as part of the Government’s education reform plans.
