Bermuda College highlights an array of scholarships

Bermuda College is encouraging students to explore its scholarship opportunities designed to reduce the cost of study while supporting education and career goals.

The college said they are available to support new and existing students across a range of programmes.

Scholarship opportunities include awards linked to academic achievement, specific fields of study and wider student development.

Deanae Miller, the financial aid officer for the Bermuda College, said support was available on campus including for students needing help with navigating the scholarship process or identifying relevant opportunities.

She said: “While some students stop by each semester to check which scholarships they are eligible for, the number of completed applications I receive does not match the interest.

“Also, in many cases, the biggest barrier is simply the assumption that they will not be selected. The reality is that scholarships cannot be awarded if students do not apply.

“There are real funds available that can significantly reduce the cost of education and students should not count themselves out before even trying.”

Among the scholarships on offer is the Bermuda Chess Scholarship, which supports students in the business administration or actuarial science programmes. The scholarship is worth $10,000.

The James King Culinary Arts Scholarship award is valued at $5,000 for one culinary arts student annually.

The Bermuda College Education Award administered by Chubb, the first company to offer a scholarship specific to a college graduate for future studies, is open to suitably qualified Bermuda College graduates enrolled in at least the third year of a four-year degree, or the second year of a three-year UK degree, at an accredited university.

The award provides $15,000 a year towards tuition and fees for up to two years immediately following graduation from Bermuda College.

The Bermuda College Athene Scholarship will support up to five students each year and covers tuition and fees, books and materials.

It is awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need. Successful recipients will receive funding for the time needed to complete their associate degree programme, provided they maintain a GPA of 3.00.

Most scholarship opportunities open on April 1 for the autumn 2026 term.

Students can apply for the Chubb and Athene scholarships through the Bermuda Scholarships website www.bermudascholarships.com.

The deadline listed for the Chubb scholarship is April 17.

Ms Miller added: “These scholarships are an important part of Bermuda College’s commitment to supporting students and helping them pursue their educational goals.

“They can make a meaningful difference by opening doors and easing some of the financial pressure that can come with continuing education.”

Financial aid is also available for students who may need broader support in addition to scholarship opportunities.
