Students of the Dalton E Tucker Primary School put their skills to the test ahead of Easter by designing devices that protect eggs from cracking on impact.

The school’s “egg drop” has become a fun tradition for trying out pupils’ engineering skills.

The school teamed up with the Port Royal Fire Station, where the colourful eggs were dropped from the top of the fire station.

Thanks were extended to Sergeant Charles Butterfield and Lieutenant Raymond Masters of the Hamilton Fire Station for co-ordinating the use of the aerial platform truck.

Crystal Caesar, the Minister of Education, congratulated students for “the way you worked together sharing ideas, problem-solving and designing protective cases for your eggs”.

“You are already showing yourselves to be young engineers and creative innovators. No matter the outcome, each of you, along with your teachers, is a winner for embracing this challenge with such enthusiasm and teamwork.”
