Parish council opens education scholarship applications
Southampton Parish Council has announced that applications are open for its further education scholarships.
Applicants must be Bermudian and have lived in Southampton Parish for at least five years.
Scholarships for the academic year 2026-27 will be awarded to qualified students in postsecondary education who are pursuing either undergraduate or graduate degrees.
Students attending the Bermuda College are invited to apply, as candidates do not have to be enrolled overseas.
Corey Butterfield, the Scholarship Committee chairman, said: “Committee members are very aware of the increasing financial pressures on parents and guardians who are educating their children and preparing them for the future.
“These worrying pressures can severely disrupt students’ studies, so we try to support families as best we can.
“Accordingly, as a community stakeholder, although academic performance is important criteria, applicants’ financial circumstance will be equally influential on the committee’s decision.”
Completed forms must be received by July 22 and interviews will be held during the week of the July 27.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Application forms are available at Southampton Post Office and can also be requested via Southampton Parish Council’s e-mail address, spc244@gmail.com, or its Facebook page.
Forms and queries should be e-mailed to the attention of the Scholarship Committee.
