Students showcase skills at Victor Scott
Students at Victor Scott Primary School showcased their skills beyond the classroom at a special event on Wednesday afternoon.
Over the past six weeks, young people across all year groups, aged 5 to 11, have been engaging in enrichment clubs to enhance their talents, abilities and gifts.
The event was the third and final TAG showcase of the year.
Excited students displayed their work and gave demonstrations across a broad range of areas including music, gaming, dance, chess, nature and art.
Kennelyn Smith, the school’s principal, welcomed parents, teachers and students.
She said: “It’s very exciting that we have been able to showcase our talent with the children and it’s an opportunity for them to be exposed to different things for future opportunities.”
Ms Smith added: “This year, our students participated in three, six-week TAG sessions, one each term, designed to provide opportunities for them to explore their interests, discover new talents and develop skills beyond the traditional classroom.
“Through these experiences, our students have engaged in meaningful learning, collaborations, creativity and personal growth.
“One of the enhancements we made this year was the addition of a showcase week following each TAG cycle. We felt it was important for students to have an authentic audience, and an opportunity to share what they had learnt and accomplished over the previous six weeks.”
Parents and students were then invited to go around all of the tables to learn about tables.
Ms Smith concluded the event by thanking everyone who made the event a success.
She said: “To our teachers, thank you for believing in the vision of TAG and for creating engaging experiences that allowed students to explore, learn and grow.
“To our students, thank you for your enthusiasm, participation and willingness to embrace new opportunities. Today is a celebration of your hard work and achievements.”
