Bermuda College’s array of international agreements with institutions of higher learning overseas has been boosted with the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Arizona State University,

The agreement means that ASU, which is closely partnered with the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences, will collaborate with the college on faculty development and exchange, student exchange, joint events and the sharing of teaching methods, publications and course design.

Ali Arouzi, the college’s vice-president of academic affairs, said the move would enhance student mobility and shared academic practice.

He added: “These are important areas for Bermuda College as we continue to build international relationships that benefit our students, our faculty and the wider community.”

Dr Arouzi said that ASU’s connection with BIOS added an important local dimension to the agreement.

The next phase of the MOU will focus on articulation agreements with ASU in areas including actuarial science, marine science and insurance studies.
