The Government is reaching out to hundreds of parents who registered online for after-school programmes, after technical issues arose with the registration portal.

A spokeswoman for the Ministry of Youth, Social Development and Seniors said the problems arose during the transition of the after-school programme registration process to the new toya.gov.bm platform.

She said that while the registration process was successfully tested before launch, issues arose when the system began operating in a “live environment”, with challenges in payment processing and wait list management.

She added: “We understand that parents and guardians may have concerns about issues encountered during the registration process, particularly when arranging after-school care for their children.

“Once the technical issue was identified, our team began contacting the families of 535 children whose ASP applications were submitted through the new registration platform.

“Children whose applications were submitted via the new platform will be given priority according to their original registration and placement status.

“Previously confirmed placements will be protected, subject to completion of the required updated registration process.”

The spokeswoman said the Office of Youth Affairs expects the reconciliation process will be completed before the start of the school year, stating that parents and guardians would receive further updates and assistance throughout the process.

She added: “The ministry appreciates families’ patience.

“We understand the importance of timely and accurate information for parents and guardians, and we remain committed to keeping families informed and supported throughout this process.”

The issue comes after the lottery registration process for the government summer camp programme had to be completely rerun because of technical issues.
