And they’re off: the statues are on public display at the Washington Mall (Photograph supplied)

Brightly painted statues of a miniature horse that delighted children across the island have gone on public display.

The 20 life-size statues of Tilly, a therapy pet at the WindReach charity for people with special needs, can be seen in the Washington Mall on Church Street in Hamilton.

The figures, which were decorated by island artists, will be sold at an auction at WindReach on April 29.

The cash raised will go towards WindReach educational and therapy programmes.
