Bermudian reggae star Collie Buddz was given special mention in Parliament for his recent Grammy nomination.

The artist, whose real name is Colin Harper, is on the shortlist for Best Reggae Album for his new release Cali Roots Riddim.

In the category, he is up against reggae giants including Buju Banton, Beenie Man and Burning Spear.

Also, Collie Buddz’s album Take It Easy recently hit No 10 on Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart

Zane DeSilva, a Progressive Labour Party MP, declared his interest as the artist’s father-in-law and congratulated him during Friday’s House of Assembly session.

Mr DeSilva said: “I have to send my congratulations to this young man yet again and I declare my interest again, he is my son-in-law, but he has been nominated for a Grammy.

“The entire House sends their congratulations to my son-in-law, Colin Harper.”

Scott Pearman, Shadow Minister of Legal Affairs, also sent his congratulations.

He said: “It is a milestone when a fellow Bermudian rises for international recognition.”

David Burt posted on X about the achievement.

The Premier wrote: “Congratulations to @CollieBuddz on his #Grammy nomination for ‘Best Reggae Album’ for his album Cali Roots Riddim alongside nominees Buju Banton, Beenie Man, Burning Spear and Julian Marley!“

The Grammys are due to be held on February 4 next year at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
