Blockbusters set for Barr’s Bay Park

A free open-air movie night courtesy of the City of Hamilton makes its return this month.

Fresh Air Films: Sunset Cinema will bring guests to the waterside at Barr’s Bay Park on June 21 to enjoy two 2025 blockbusters.

Entry requires presenting a receipt showing a minimum $25 purchase from any City of Hamilton business between May 1 and June 21.

Two separate receipts are required for guests wishing to stay for both films.

The PG-rated Mufasa: The Lion King is set for 6.30pm, followed by Captain America: Brave New World, rated PG-13, at 9pm.

Gates open at 5.30pm, with games and prizes between the two films.

Guests should bring lawn chairs, picnic blankets and a healthy appetite, with food and snack vendors available on-site.

Lorna Hayward, the City’s senior events co-ordinator, called it “a wonderful opportunity for families and friends to come together and enjoy a relaxing evening in one of the City’s most scenic locations”.

She added: “There’s something special about watching a movie outdoors with the harbour lights twinkling in the background.

“This year’s film line-up is all about epic storytelling, family fun and cinematic spectacle — perfect for kicking off the summer.”
