Bermuda Dance Academy celebrates ten-year anniversary
A dance school celebrated ten years of artistic expression with back-to-back shows this month.
The Bermuda Dance Academy featured five hours’ worth of performances directed by the school’s founder, Nikia Manders.
Ms Manders said: “This night was a dream come true. Seeing our dancers shine, celebrating our history and feeling the love form everyone in the room — this is what it’s all about.
“Bermuda Dance Academy has truly become a family and tonight, we celebrated that legacy.”
The marathon of performances, which happened on June 7, was attended by families and friends of the performers, as well as a host of patrons and choreographers.
The first show lasted for two hours before segueing into a three-hour showcase.
The performance involved various styles that bridged jazz, tap dancing, hip-hop and contemporary.
Guests were also treated to a collage of recital flyers from the school’s past ten years across the lobby, and a cake to celebrate the decade of service.
A spokeswoman for the Bermuda Dance Academy said: “It was more than just dance — it was a celebration of perseverance, community and the boundless spirit of Bermuda’s rising stars.
“Dancers of all ages dazzled the crowd, earning medals, certificates and T-shirts in recognition of their dedication.
“Proud parents, many of whom have supported the academy from the beginning, created a video to thank Ms Manders for her unwavering support and mentorship that has transformed young lives through dance.”
